Hervis is closing 17 of 93 branches this year – 100 employees affected

“There will be 17 of the current ones 93 locations will be closed throughout Austria in the course of 2026 because they cannot be operated profitably,” said Hervis in response to an APA inquiry. Around 100 employees in Austria are affected by the branch closures. A social plan has been drawn up together with the works council and the union, Hervis said.

The closures would take place gradually, subject to notice periods in the rental agreements. According to the company, the Hervis locations were already closed in 2026 Salzburg (SAM Outlet) and Baden. The branches will close in the course of 2026 Q19 in Vienna, Bischofshofen, Salzburg Forum, Hallein, Reutte, Kitzbühel, Lienz, Feldkirchen, Deutschlandsberg, Leoben, Liezen, Perg, Steyr, Wels and Linz (Lentia).

Hervis has been making losses for years. In the balance sheet for the 2024 financial year last submitted to the commercial register, sales amounted to 252.66 million euros and the loss was 43 million euros.

The Salzburg retail group Spar separated from its loss-making sports trading subsidiary after more than 50 years; the sale was announced in January this year. The new Hervis owner is Quantum Investment Holding GmbH, based in Vienna. According to the company register, the German investor and Snipes founder Sven Voth and Udo Schloemer, founder of the Factory Berlin office campus, each hold 50 percent of the GmbH.
