Bitter bankruptcy of a well-known Italian restaurant

About the assets of the La Locanda GmbH, Operator of the restaurant „The Trattoria” at Innsbruck’s Sparkassenplatz, insolvency proceedings were opened at the Innsbruck regional court on June 22, 2026. The company had filed its own application. According to the company compass, the company had 16 employees in 2025.

“La vita è bella… unfortunately not always. We had to close our restaurant,” the restaurant said in a farewell post on its homepage. We would like to thank the loyal guests for their support. La Locanda GmbH was only entered in the commercial register in September 2020.

High investments, lack of profitability

Managing director and sole shareholder Werner Kleon justified the insolvency to the court with a lack of economic viability in recent years. At the start of the entrepreneurial activity, large investments were made, which put a strain on the company.

According to the company, there have been discussions with the financing bank in recent months. However, a binding agreement was not reached.

Debts and assets

Details on the amount of liabilities or the number of creditors affected were not initially known. According to Firmencompass, the company generated a net loss of 309,700 euros in 2025, negative equity was 272,300 euros and liabilities were 465,900 euros. The assets consist of property, plant and equipment amounting to 195,000 euros.

Formal closure expected

Based on the information in the insolvency application, Klaus Schaller from KSV1870 assumes that the company will be formally closed by decision of the insolvency court. Creditors can register their claims until August 3, 2026.
