The court accepted a representative lawsuit against El Al due to inflated prices during the war

District Court Judge Rami Haimovic of the Central District Court in Lod rejected El Al’s request to stay its request for a representative action filed against it for overcharging air tickets during the war.

The company argued that a decision on the representative action should be made only after the administrative enforcement proceedings initiated by the antimonopoly department in February 2026 are completed.

The lawsuit in the amount of 121 million shekels was filed six months before the antimonopoly authority announced its intention to fine El Al. The plaintiffs allege that the airline took advantage of the market crisis resulting from the war, the withdrawal of foreign airlines from Israeli routes, and its exclusive market position to charge inflated prices.

It should be noted that the Antimonopoly Division advised the court that the consideration of a representative action will not interfere with administrative proceedings, and that judicial procedures complementing its activities are important.
