La Jornada: Sheinbaum receives the president of Switzerland today

With the purpose of having an approach to review trade relations with Mexico, today President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will receive her Swiss counterpart, Guy Parmelin, and a group of 16 Swiss businessmen at the National Palace. This country is not part of the European Union (like Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), so our country has a specific agreement that could be reviewed to modernize as happened with the European Union recently.

During the presidential conference, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Velasco, explained that another objective “is to talk about the investments that these Swiss companies have in our country and the potential ventures in Mexico. Switzerland is the 21st economy in the world.

“It is a nation that fundamentally what they export is capital, so it has been a very beneficial agreement for our country and, well, it will be very interesting to hear what their approaches are to modernize the commercial relationship for the future,” said the chancellor.
