Import reform “What’s good for the US is good for Israel” approved

Knesset members approved in the final reading an amendment to the Standards Law, simplifying the import of products that meet US standards.

The bill, known as the “What’s good for the US is good for Israel” reform, is almost exactly the same as the “What’s good for the EU is good for Israel” reform approved a year ago.

The main difference is that for imports through the European route, the place of production of the goods does not matter if it meets EU standards, whereas under the new American route, only products manufactured in the USA will be able to be imported.

Therefore, the impact of this reform on the Israeli market will be less significant.
