La Jornada: Boeing ready to increase production after safety restrictions

London. Boeing stated that it is studying a new round of production increases for its best-selling model, the 737 MAX, after having obtained authorization from the authorities in May to increase production to 47 units per month.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed an unprecedented production limit on the US company shortly after a mid-flight emergency in 2024, which revealed widespread safety and quality deficiencies in Boeing production.

“We are using the safety management system and our safety risk assessment to determine when we will be stable and ready to move to the next pace of production,” Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope told reporters at a roundtable discussion ahead of the Farnborough Air Show.

“I have the team focused on stabilizing at 47 units. Once we get to 47, we’ll go to 52, and then we’ll continue to look at that number. The order book is incredibly strong. Demand is not our problem. If we announce any orders along the way, we will celebrate with our customers, whenever they want to do so,” Pope said.

Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and the United States’ top exporter, according to analysts.
