La Jornada: Samsung cuts jobs in the US

Seoul. Samsung cut jobs in its display, cell phone and other consumer electronics operations in the United States, mainly affecting employees in New Jersey and Texas. The South Korean tech giant told Reuters that 739 jobs in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, have been affected by Samsung’s plans to move its headquarters to Texas.

Most of the affected people have received relocation offers, but others have been laid off, he added. At Samsung’s office in Plano, Texas, about 100 workers, including staff in its mobile division, were laid off, according to a person believed to be part of that group. The sources preferred to remain anonymous.
