Bittium rises to the OMXH25 index – SSAB drops from the list

Operating radio equipment for defense purposes Bittium rises to the OMX Helsinki 25 index. Bittium enters the index and replaces the industrial group that leaves it SSAB:n.

The OMXH25 index tracks the development of the 25 most traded stocks on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Therefore, the selection criteria for the index are based on the trading activity of the shares, not directly on the size of the company. Because of this, Bittium can rise in the index past the much larger SSAB.

SSAB’s market value is nine billion euros and Bittium’s is 928 million euros.

The index is widely followed and, for example, some of the index funds and ETFs that invest in the Helsinki Stock Exchange are built to follow the OMXH25 index.

The changes will take effect when the market opens on Monday, August 3. The index is revised every six months in February and August.

Update at 2:30 p.m.: The article previously claimed that most funds would track the OMXH25 index. Clarified that some of the funds track the index in question.
