The Banco del Bienestar opened more than 10 million accounts between September 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026 and dispersed 713,371 million pesos for the benefit of 33,900 Mexicans who receive subsidies from some social program, the federal government assured.
The second Government Report by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pargo highlights that 99.3 percent of beneficiaries of social programs receive their resources through their debit cards.
According to the Report, the Banco del Bienestar is the main instrument for dispersing resources of the government’s social policy.
In the aforementioned period, he highlights, the institution “expanded the offer of products and services through the Paisano Wellbeing Card for repatriated compatriots, which allowed it to serve 103,591 people, with a total dispersion of 265,900,000 pesos.”
At the same time, it delivered 14 million 500 thousand debit cards, bringing the accumulated number to 57 million 600 thousand cards.
In turn, the Financiera para el Bienestar (Finabien) delivered 82,908 cards, with which 4,675 remittance operations were carried out from Mexico to the United States for 41,500,000 pesos.
With the expansion of their infrastructure and the diversification of their products and services, these institutions provide new credit and savings opportunities, the Report states.
