The Moto Guzzi house ‘reborn’ in Mandello del Lario

The home of Moto Guzzi is reborn in Mandello del Lario, along the Lecco shores of Lake Como. The new hub of the well-known Made in Italy brandowned by the Piaggio Group, opens after years of work and a total investment of around 40 million euros, in time for the Motorcycle Rally, the most important event on the calendar of ‘Guzzi’ enthusiasts.

The architecture designed by will characterize the new factory Greg Lynnauthor of the project and CEO of Piaggio Fast Forward. The vision combines industrial design with a futuristic aesthetic, creating a dialogue between the buildings and the landscape in which Moto Guzzi has built its history.

The new ‘home’ in via Parodi

The project, in fact, does not only concern the museum, but also a much broader transformation of the historic factory of via Parodi. A new warehouse, a new engine assembly department and an expansion of the vehicle assembly area were built, as well as new spaces for staff. On the hospitality front, an auditorium, the new museum, the department dedicated to the Historical Register, the bookshop, a new shop and a bar have been created. To complete the redesign of the spaces there will also be two new squares, one in front of the museum and one in front of the historic wind tunnel, as well as two new internal connections.

Fontana: “An investment in the future”

The idea is to have a structure capable of functioning throughout the year, not only during the days of the large international gathering, scheduled for next weekend in the streets of Mandello. “Moto Guzzi is a brand that, for over a century, has brought the name of Mandello del Lario, the Lecco area and the whole of Lombardy to the world. This new hub is an investment in the future, capable of safeguarding the historic core of the factory and at the same time opening a new production season”, said the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, speaking, together with the undersecretary with responsibility for Autonomy and Relations with the Regional Council, Mauro Piazza, at the inauguration of the new factory. The hub, added Fontana, “also offers new opportunities to the Lecco area, in terms of qualified employment, attractiveness, industrial tourism and valorisation of local excellence”.
