6.5 million euros for an apartment – in Jesolo (Italy), a penthouse has set a new real estate record. The luxury residence on the Adriatic coast costs around 40,000 euros per square meter. According to the project developer, the buyer is a wealthy entrepreneur from Veneto. The apartment is located in Richard Meier Towera high-rise building designed by New York star architect Richard Meier.
The penthouse apartment crowns the 85 meter high tower Jesolo Lido Design District. It extends over two floors and offers extensive views of the sea and the coast through large glass walls. Facilities include an eight-meter-long private pool, spacious terraces and your own roof terrace. The design is characterized by clear, minimalist lines. White dominates the interior. The furniture is included in the purchase price and is provided by the project developer.
Star architect Meier developed the residential area along the coast
A smaller apartment near the penthouse was sold for a seven-figure amount. The buyers of both apartments were wealthy residents of Veneto, project developer Peter Reichegger told the Milanese daily newspaper Corriere della Sera on Monday. “Here you don’t buy concrete, but rather an experience for a holiday that regenerates your body and mind,” he explained.
Tower is scheduled to open in 2027
The Richard Meier Tower is behind The Summer Houses and the Falkensteiner Hotel, also designed by Meier. The tower is not yet completed and is scheduled to open in 2027. Of the planned 83 apartments, 73 have already been sold, said Reichegger. The average price is around 20,000 euros per square meter. According to Reichegger, he came to Jesolo in 1994. At that time there was hardly any construction activity on the current site. However, he recognized the potential of the coastal location and decided to invest.
Eight swimming pools for residents
With Meier’s arrival in Jesolo in 2002, the development of today’s residential area began. Several buildings were built along the coast with the clear lines and large glass surfaces typical of Meier’s architecture. The Richard Meier Tower was to become the central project. Unlike some previous high-rise projects in Jesolo, demand has been stable so far, said Reichegger. It is crucial that residents not only find an apartment, but also a comprehensive range of options. This includes eight swimming pools, a spa, a fitness area, gardens, underground parking, a concierge service and golf carts for the paths within the area.
