Aalto University received 2 million euros for the hydrogen innovation center

Aalto University has received two million euros in funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture to establish a hydrogen innovation center.

A multidisciplinary doctoral education program will be established at the center, which will seek solutions to the problems of the hydrogen economy. The first doctoral trainees will start at the hydrogen innovation center in the fall of 2024.

The needs of the hydrogen economy will be pushed forward especially by the multidisciplinary Advanced energy solutions master’s program and the Hydrogen and electrical systems master’s program starting in the fall of 2024.

The center also cooperates with external research organizations and companies.

A professor starts as the director of Aalto University’s Hydrogen Innovation Center Mika Järvinen from the School of Engineering.

In addition to him, the management trio includes professor Tanja Kallio from the School of Chemical Engineering and professor Marko Hinkkanen from the School of Electrical Engineering, says the release.

The hydrogen economy is considered one important form of technology, so that carbon dioxide emissions could be radically reduced also in industry and transport.
