Change in leadership: Peter Bosek becomes the new CEO of Erste Group

Most recently, the Luminor Bank in Tallinn was his entrepreneurial home. Peter Bosek will now become CEO of Erste Group.

Peter Bosek (55) will become Chairman of the Board of Directors on July 1, 2024 First Group. He succeeds Willi Cernko, who will continue to run the business as CEO until then. The Austrian Bosek is currently the head of Luminor Bank, which operates in the Baltics. Before that, he was CEO of Erste Bank and Chief Retail Officer of Erste Group, so he knows the company very well. The bank said Bosek emerged as the best qualified candidate from a multi-stage international process.

Erste Group supervisory board chairman Friedrich Rödler praised Bosek in a broadcast on Wednesday evening as “one of the most experienced and renowned bankers in Europe”. He was able to convince the supervisory board with his plans for the further development of the group and future prospects. “As an experienced retail banker, in his role as group CEO, he will place a strong focus on all customer issues and work on the group’s digitalization and innovation leadership,” said Rödler.
