Bakeries warn restaurateurs of rising bread prices

According to the Kan-11 TV channel, the owners of restaurants, cafes and fast food chains have been receiving messages from bakeries in recent days about an increase in the price of bread and pastries. The cost of bakery products received by public catering will increase from 5% to 15%.

The change in prices is planned for April, and is explained by the rise in price of flour.

Last week, Stiebel, Israel’s largest flour producer, notified distributors of an immediate price increase for its products. As the reason for the emergency rise in price, the company did not indicate a shortage of grain (50% of Israeli grain is supplied from Ukraine), but the high cost of idle cargo in the roadstead of Israeli ports, as well as rising prices for fuel and electricity.

Even before Stiebel, the Takhanot Kemah Yisrael company, which controls about 20% of the market, announced an 18% increase in prices for its products from the second half of April (after the Pesach holiday).
