UBS CEO is Europe's best-paid banker with more than 14 million euros

With 14.4 million Swiss francs for nine months’ work, the CEO of the Swiss major bank UBS, Sergio Ermotti, is the best-paid banker in Europe.

Ermotti took over the helm at UBS in April to manage the takeover of Credit Suisse. The Swiss previously headed the bank for nine years.

For those nine months of work, Ermotti received 14.4 million francs (14.7 million euros) in 2023, according to UBS’s annual report. His predecessor Ralph Hamers received 12.6 million francs in 2022 for twelve months of work.

This makes Ermotti the best-paid banker in Europe. The highest-paid banker in the US, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, earned $36 million last year.
