A13: the motorway will remain closed between Paris and Vaucresson at least until Monday inclusive, after a ground movement

The A13 motorway between the Paris ring road and the A86 closed in both directions since Thursday evening after the discovery of a large crack will remain closed at least until Monday inclusive, the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture said this Friday , in a press release. “A reopening of the A13 could be considered during next week”, depending on the results of the various studies, she indicates. A communication will be made “at the end of the day” on Monday.

This very busy section of road to the west of Paris had been closed “in order to guarantee the safety of users”, indicated the Dirif. A crack between the viaduct and the Saint-Cloud tunnel is the cause of this cut. “This situation is the result of a movement on the ground, the causes of which are currently being diagnosed,” indicates the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture. This movement of the ground “also caused cracks in a sewerage structure located 4 meters deep under the motorway”.

The A13 motorway connects Paris to Caen in Normandy via the south of Rouen. It is particularly used by Parisians wishing to go to the Normandy coast. The private company Sanef (Société des autoroutes du Nord et de l’Est de la France) operates this motorway, except between Paris and Orgeval (Yvelines), where the manager is the French State, represented by Dirif.

It is recommended to avoid the area

The Hauts-de-Seine prefecture, this Friday evening, recommends “postponing any travel leading to crossing this sector, unless necessary”. “All users are also strongly advised to avoid the impacted sector and take alternative routes as far upstream as possible,” the press release continues, citing the A15 or the A86.

Worried about seeing “traffic jams forming until 10 p.m.”, the mayor of the town of Saint-Cloud, Éric Berdoati (DVD), crossed by the A13, described Friday morning as a “hell of a mess”. “The biggest problem will be the traffic which will transfer from Vaucresson to the Saint-Cloud bridge, especially in the province-Paris direction. In the other direction, it should be less complicated, access to the viaduct is closed from the ring road,” he described.

For his part, Brice Mathieu, administrator of the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud, warns that the Avenue de la Grille d’Honneur in the park is closed. “We put barriers in the area so that people coming from the west don’t go into this cul-de-sac,” he explains. The Hauts-de-Seine prefecture indicated on Friday evening that the main gate and the park of the Saint-Cloud estate would remain closed to vehicles until Monday inclusive, like the portion of the motorway concerned.

This closure comes just before the last weekend of the school holidays for Île-de-France. Bison futé predicts difficult traffic in the region in the direction of returns on Saturday and Sunday.
