Posti Group's profitability improved, even though turnover decreased at the beginning of the year – Finance

According to Posti, the drop in demand and political strikes explain the decline in turnover.

Places The Group improved its profitability in January–March from a year ago. According to the interim report, the group’s turnover decreased by 3.9 percent to 382.1 million euros, but the adjusted operating profit increased to 21.2 million euros. Last year’s adjusted operating result was 9.6 million euros at the beginning of the year.

According to the group, the decrease in demand and also the political strikes at the beginning of the year explain the decrease in turnover. The political strikes affected Posti’s storage and weakened the turnover of the business area, the group says.

Posti expects its turnover and adjusted EBITDA to be at last year’s level this year.

The group Acting managing director Timo Karppinen according to this, cost control is partly behind the improvement in profitability at the beginning of the year.

“Although market uncertainty affected this quarter’s net sales, we keep our eyes on the future and continue to ensure efficiency in all our operations,” he says.

Karppinen will be in charge of the group for the time being, until the new CEO Antti Jääskeläinen start in the task.

Jääskeläinen, who worked as a business area manager at UPM, is scheduled to start at the head of Posti Group after the summer holidays. Former CEO of the company Fur Kuusisto was elected to the management of Finnair. Posti Group is a company owned by the Finnish state.
