Will they meet the same success as Martin Bourboulon’s adaptation last year? The first trailer for “All for One”, a 100% female version of “The Three Musketeers” by Alexandre Dumas directed by Houda Benyamina, was unveiled this Tuesday, November 26, for release in theaters on January 22, 2025.
In the title roles, we will find the actresses Oulaya Amamra, Sabrina Ouazani, Déborah Lukumuena, and Daphné Patakia. The pitch: “When Sara (Oulaya Amamra), a young girl on the run, discovers that the Three Musketeers who protect the Queen of France are in reality women, she decides to leave with them and follow their example: transform herself to be free , transform yourself to be yourself…” we promise on the website of the distributor UGC.
After “Divines”, a new project for Houda Benyamina
This is the second feature film for director Houda Benyamina, 44 years old. She was revealed in 2016 by winning the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for “Divines”. “Cannes is also our place! Cannes is ours, ours, the women,” she chanted while receiving the prestigious award.
This film, which traces the emancipation of a young girl in the Paris suburbs from the influence of a drug dealer, then won no less than three Césars the following year, including that of best first film. She reunites with two actresses she had already directed, Oulaya Amamra and Déborah Lukumuena.
A film where we will therefore find Athos, Porthos, Aramis and d’Artagnan played by women, a format which is however far from being new. Among the hundreds of adaptations of Dumas’s work, one stands out: “Tri Mushketyora”, a TV film for Ukrainian television broadcast in 2004 with three women in the title roles and to play d’Artagnan, a certain… Volodymyr Zelensky.
