Isabel Coixet will chair the jury of the Horizons section of the 2022 Venice Film Festival

The Spanish filmmaker Isabel Coixet winner of the Goya for best film for ‘The Secret Life of Words’ and ‘The Bookstore’, will be the president of the jury for the Horizons (Orizzonti) section of the 79th edition of the Venice International Film Festival, which will take place between August 31 and September 10. american actress Julianne Moore will be the president of the jury of the Official Selection that will compete for the Golden Lion.

Also winner of the Ariel Award for the best Ibero-American film for ‘The secret Life of the words’ Coixet will chair an international jury made up of the Italian filmmaker Laura Bispuri (‘Figlia mia’), the American director and screenwriter Anthony Fields (‘The devil at all hours’), the Algerian director Sofia The Crowd (‘A dinner in Algeria’, winner of the award for best actress in the Horizons section of the 2017 Venice Film Festival) and the French film journalist Edouard Waintrop who was recently artistic director of the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Horizons section jury will decide the winners of the awards for best film, best direction, best actor, best actress, best screenplay and best short film among the feature films that will compete in this parallel section.

The organization also announced to the jury that will award the Luigi de Laurentiis Award for Best First Feature which will have the Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino as president of the jury, which will be made up of the American actress Tessa Thompson, the Polish filmmaker Jan P. Matuszynski, the Portuguese director Ana Rocha de Sousa and the French costume designer Rosalie Varda.
