“Eurydice and Orpheus”: Musical theater at the Munich Kammerspiele

EIt starts off absolutely fantastic. You hear singing like you’ve never heard before, it’s not opera singing, nor is it speaking singing like you might know from Alban Berg. It is a completely new symbiosis of word and, well, melody, a singing that becomes a completely natural expression, no matter how artificial its production may be. The Münchner Kammerspiele are now also producing musical theater, “Eurydice and Orpheus”, so they fall back on the original myth of the opera, that of the singer who brings his lover back from the realm of the dead. Or want to get it. Of course everything is a little different at the Kammerspiele, but one thing is the same as always: Eurydice and Orpheus, two women, love each other very much.
