“One day believe”: Luca Maurelli’s book reveals the true story of Patrizio Trampetti’s generational anthem

Luca Maurelli, Neapolitan journalist and writer, in “One day believe. Patrizio Trampetti and the true story of the anthem of a generation that wanted to start from scratch” (Jack Edizioni, pp 171, 10 Euro), tries to “travel” in that text and in those years by talking about it with the author and recovering traces and testimonies of that period of passions, struggle and mourning. The protégé of Roberto De Simone, who seemed destined for a career as a rock star, still plays, acts, writes and experiments today, but does not give up on providing new interpretations of that “false accident” which in the song, masterfully arranged by De Simone with the surprising use of the baroque trumpet, tells of regrets, appeals, sliding doors and moments of personal crisis and resurrection. Between music and politics, between useless wars and unarmed pacifists, between right and left, between Berlinguer and Almirante, Luca Maurelli’s book tells us about dreams, ideals and disappointments of the young people of yesterday and today. “A tribute to this lyricist, musician, actor and researcher of ethnic sounds, like Trampetti, was also a must on the 50th anniversary of the debut of the Gatta Cenerentola at the Due Mondi festival, which saw him as the protagonist of that masterpiece brought to success by De Simone,” explains Luca Maurelli.

“In these pages you will find not only the very young Trampetti who invited us to ‘believe’ but also the man who does not want to be remembered at all costs, who did not chase success, popularity, money, but only his passion, his instinct behind the Pied Piper: music, which goes hand in hand with Naples”, writes Lucilla Parlato in her prelude-preface. The book anticipates a short film made by Luca Maurelli which will be presented by the summer and comes out simultaneously with the publication of Patrizio Trampetti’s new album, “Anime delle due Sicilie”, for the Laboratori di Provincia label, with Alfio Antico, Jennà Romano and Amedeo Ronga.
