Journalist Elena Ortega publishes ‘Ruta 61. A sound journey following the Mississippi’ about modern music

This May 7, journalist Elena Ortega publishes ‘Ruta 61. A sound journey following the Mississippi’ (Anaya), a book that combines personal chronicle and travel guide to delve into the mythical Highway 61, considered the cradle of modern music.

The result of a journey of more than 5,000 kilometers through the United States, the book was born from the search for the roots of “the music we listen to today.”

During this trip, the author met with musicians – some of them also participated in the film ‘Sinners’ – whose testimonies gave her “a contemporary perspective to a global cultural legacy,” as she explains in a statement.

The book has photographs by Asier Calderón, the author herself and the award-winning Gonzalo Azumendi; as well as a cartography designed by Jordi Català.
