Remigration, from Le Gallou to Boni Castellane: the first collective volume in bookstores

Remigration arrives in the bookstore. On the eve of Saturday’s contested demonstration in Rome and in the aftermath of the sensational anti-immigration protests in Belfast, “Remigration. The path towards reconquest” is published (238 pp., 20.00 euros), a collective volume published by Altaforte Edizioni which brings together some of the most representative voices of the Italian and European cultural and political panorama engaged in reflection on the themes of identity, sovereignty, demography and migration policies. The work was born with a precise objective: to address the issue of remigration in an organic and in-depth manner, a concept that in recent years has progressively emerged in the European public debate, becoming the subject of political, media and cultural debate. Through essays, analyses, testimonies and proposals, the volume offers one of the first in-depth analyzes to appear in Italy on a topic destined to occupy an increasingly relevant space in the continent’s debate.

“The book – it is explained in a note – is the result of a long and meticulous work of coordination, research and in-depth analysis promoted and strongly supported by the Remigration and Reconquista Committee, which followed the construction of the work step by step. A painstaking work which allowed us to collect contributions from different cultural, political and academic fields, with the aim of offering the reader an analysis tool that is as detailed and documented as possible on one of the most discussed issues in contemporary Europe”. The contributors are, among others, Luca Marsella, president of the Remigration and Reconquest Committee, Ivan Sogari, vice-president, Adriano Scianca, Boni Castellane, Jean-Yves Le Gallou, Progetto Razzia, Francesca Totolo, Andrea Lombardi, Lorenzo Cafarchio, Francesco Polacchi. The text also contains interviews with Laurent Ozon and Renaud Camus who, from France, were among the first to reflect on the phenomenon of immigration and its impacts on the old continent.

In the book, remigration is analyzed not only from the point of view of migration policies, but also in relation to the issues of birth rate, work, citizenship, the sovereignty of States, social cohesion and the historical and cultural continuity of European nations, collecting analyses, reflections and proposals “with the ambition of transforming a discussion often confined to controversy into a structured and documented comparison”, explains the publishing house, according to which “the essay represents a contribution intended to spark debate and comparison”, offering “readers the tools to understand one of the most controversial and discussed issues of our time”.
