Sales of a Facebook exposé book exploded after Meta silenced the author

Facebook having worked in management positions by Sarah Wynn-Williams written by Careless People – the sales of the work have grown explosively at the beginning of June, says the British magazine The Guardian.

The sales of the book, published in March 2025, increased by more than three hundred percent in one week in Britain, and it has become the best-selling non-fiction paperback in the country.

The reason is Wynn-Williams’ recent appearance at an event called the Hay Festival. The festival is one of the world’s most famous literary and discussion events, which annually gathers more than a hundred thousand visitors to the small town of Hay-on-Wye in Wales.

Wynn-Williams participated in the hour-long panel discussion, but did not say a word during the entire discussion. According to media reports, the author’s lawyers had instructed him to remain silent.

We got into this special situation due to pressure from Meta, the company that owns Facebook. After all, Meta got it Careless Peoplen after a court order came out that forbids Wynn-Williams from marketing his book.

According to the author’s lawyers, the company had also separately mentioned the Hay festival and threatened sanctions if Wynn-Williams spoke about Meta there.

Wynn-Williams in the book, Facebook is accused of, among other things, a toxic corporate culture and abuse of political power. Wynn-Williams, for example, argues that Mark Zuckerberg’s under the leadership of Meta flattered the Chinese regime and censored Chinese dissidents in order to gain access to the Chinese market.

Wynn-Williams also writes how she was criticized too much slow response to messageseven though he had been hospitalized and slipped into a coma.

Meta has denied Wynn-Williams’ accusations and described the book as “a mixture of outdated and previously made public claims and false accusations against our leaders.”

New Zealander Wynn-Williams worked in management positions at Facebook between 2011 and 2017. Facebook dismissed him because of “poor performance and toxic behavior”. According to Wynn-Williams, the reason for the dismissal was that she had intervened in the sexual harassment she experienced.
