Les Vieilles Charrues sounds the alarm on a scam involving fake banknotes created with AI

Beware of scams. A few days before turning 34^e edition, scheduled for July 16 to 19 in Carhaix (Finistère), the Festival des Vieilles Charrues is sounding the alarm. In a press release sent Thursday July 9, the organizers of the Breton festival denounce a “multiplication of illegal ticket resales, amplified by the use of artificial intelligence to generate counterfeit tickets”.

While the event is almost full, with only a few places remaining available for Friday, the Carhaisian festival warns its audience: “buying a fake ticket means being refused entry to the festival”. According to the teams, new technologies now make it possible to generate counterfeits “ visually indistinguishable from the real thing »increasing the risk of scams on fraudulent sites.

An alert message is also visible on the official website: “Beware of scams!! NEVER purchase your tickets outside of our box office and/or the official ticket exchange.” The organizers call on festival-goers to use these channels exclusively for any resale and warn : “You risk buying a fake ticket… and being refused entry to the festival.”

For those who missed the boat, a new opportunity is looming. Additional tickets will go on sale for each of the four days on Wednesday July 15, the day before the festival.

The opening of the ticket office in November was a resounding success, with one day already full and the 3 and 4 day passes sold out. Among the notable announcements, Aya Nakamura will make her comeback after her appearances in 2019 and 2023. But also the New York rockers Interpol as well as Vanessa Paradis, Katy Perry and Orelsan are among the expected headliners.
