Crown Princess Victoria again dressed in Finnish Andiata

In recent years, Victoria has often used Finnish brand jackets on state visits and other representative duties.

The main destination of the crown princess couple, who started their visit to Finland from Vaasa, was Vaasa’s 250-year-old Court of Appeal. Victoria stepped into the city wearing pink pants and a top and a powder-colored blazer from the fashion house Andiata.

Fashion designer Miro Hämäläinen says the Swedish crown princess, as if courting the other side of the rapako, the old part of the kingdom, with her choice of clothes.

“And it works. Finns appreciate it very much when Finland is mentioned, and of course this is good advertising for Andiata,” says Hämäläinen.

“After all, it’s kind and nice that attention is paid to it. I at least appreciate it.”

Otherwise, Hämäläinen considers Victoria’s life to be completely normal. In his opinion, the outfit could be seen “even on a normal thong” for example at a graduation party.

“The costume communicates that he is one of us, a very ordinary person. With it, we hope to get a contact surface with us ordinary mortals,” says Hämäläinen.

In the same light outfit, Victoria also arrived in the afternoon in Otaniemi, Espoo, where the crown princess couple visited Aalto University to learn about quantum technology, space and satellite technology, and ice research. The visit to Espoo was tight and lasted only a few hours.

The last part of the program was a visit to the world’s largest indoor ice pool, Aalto Ice and Wave Tank.

The crown princess didn’t let the cold get in the way. He carried some kind of warming scarf with him but didn’t put it on.

Hämäläinen considers Victoria’s dressing style very risk-free and restrained.

“You can see directly from the style that he represents institutions, and specifically an institution that is very important to them, that it remains stable. Through dressing, stability is communicated, something that does not change.”

According to Hämäläinen, Victoria’s style has been very similar over the years.

“Midi-length skirts, dresses and pants. The only thing where you can see the shape of the body, for example, is the waist, and it’s not particularly emphasized either. Subdued necklines. The skin is not shown terribly.”

“On the other hand, if he were the crown prince, then he would always only have a suit on and there would be no need to discuss any clothes.”

Hämäläinen thinks that a few hundred years ago, both male and female royals wore more jewelry than they do today and showed off their wealth.

Above all, he would like Victoria to have more courage, more fantasy when it comes to dressing. In Hämäläinen’s opinion, the royals could generally give the people more fantasy.

“Because it’s entertainment in a way. Why couldn’t it be a little more theater? I think it’s a bit of a slog, that we ordinary people are courted by trying to look like us,” Hämäläinen says and begins to think about the meaning and status of European royal houses in general.

If the royals try to infiltrate “us, it looks like other ordinary people”, why is the institution in question needed anymore, Hämäläinen wonders.

“In a way, that takes away the last reason why the institution would be allowed to exist and why all citizens have to pay for their existence.”

Victoria isn’t the only royal charmed by Andiata. In recent years many Nordic royals are dressed in Finnish brand jackets, sweaters and dresses. They have been seen both in Sweden Princess Sofia like Denmark of Queen Mary above.

When Victoria visited Finland in the fall of 2023, she was seen wearing, among other things, a green pantsuit by the Finnish company Ril’s.
