The CEO of the beon company. Worldwide, Dario Regattieri, has promoted the ‘Urban Root’ initiative, a project designed to recover historic theaters, old cinemas, industrial sites or disused palaces and return cultural and economic activity to them.
“Our theaters, cinemas and emblematic spaces must not become immobile memories. They must reopen for culture and for people,” Regattieri said in a statement.
Thus, the premise of the initiative maintains that the restoration of architecture is not enough on its own, but that a building only comes back to life when it recovers its audience, contents and an active relationship with the city.
The model integrates everything from the design of the strategic and narrative proposal to the production and subsequent management of the space.
Among the previous references of the project, the management of the Calderón Theater in Madrid and its Lírico terrace stand out, the reconversion of the old Canada Pavilion at the Expo’92 in Seville or the restoration of the Jerezano Cinema, closed 25 years ago and currently in the process of reopening as the Jerezano Theater.
