Juho Kankaanpää, 30, is a freelance journalist and a student of documentary film, whose columns he wrote during two summers at HS won first the readers’ confusion and then their popularity. Ruben Stiller, 65, is a media personality who has had a long career as a television and radio presenter at Yleisradio, and who is currently transitioning from Yle to reservist journalism.
Stiller has had an extraordinary ability to get into conflicts with the authorities and his employers. However, his ability to combine social pathos with disarming self-irony has kept him popular with the public since the 1980s. He has previously written columns for Image magazine, among others.
Riina Tanskanen, 28, is known above all for praise and awards Stupid girls – about his cartoon, which deals with serious social themes through feminist humor. In June, HS published Tanskanen’s speech at the Lahti writers’ meeting speechin which he said that the older generations have left nothing but ruins for the children of the 21st century.
“I’m not at all surprised that it’s just the middle of nowhere,” Tanskanen wrote to him in his beloved Eastern Finnish dialect.
