Exhibitions, ‘Serial Killer Exhibition’, crimes and ruthless murderers in Castelnuovo di Porto

One thousand two hundred square meters of exhibition, over 1000 artefacts from 50 collectors from all over the world with a total value of around 3 million euros, 100 display cases, 400 illustrative banners and 1 human body in the anatomy section for a journey of over 2 hours through 20 rooms themed on 3 different levels. These are the numbers of ‘Serial Killer Exhibition’, the exhibition that tells the life and crimes of the most ruthless serial killers of all time which will be inaugurated on 14 October in the former prisons of Rocca Colonna in Castelnuovo di Porto, province of Rome.

“Not only is this an exhibition never seen before in the Roman territory – explained the criminologist Maurizio Roccato who curated the exhibition for the Venice Exhibition company – but it is certainly the first exhibition in the world dedicated to serial killers set up inside a former prison , a place where the lives of many of these murderers ended”

Visitors will therefore be able to observe Jeffrey Dahmer’s glasses recently sold for the monstrous sum of 150 thousand dollars, the freezer, recovered directly from the crime scene, in which Armin Meiwes, the Rotenburg Cannibal, kept the body parts, Leonarda Cianciulli’s kitchen, the Correggio soap maker, which in 1940 produced sweets and bars of soap obtained from its female victims, the clothes of Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper, the original license plate of the blue Fiat 127 involved in the second double murder of the Monster of Florence, the cleaver used by Antonio Boggia, ‘The Monster of Milan’.

The largest collection in the world of authentic and autographed writings and drawings by serial killers is on display

“It will be an immersion in the darkest side of humanity in which crime is the common thread – continued the criminologist – but it will also be a way to remember the victims, too often forgotten, through their face accompanied by name, surname and date of killing. It is certainly an exhibition of great impact – concluded Roccato – but above all of high scientific value and in fact once the exhibition in Rome is over it will leave for a world tour”.

In the rooms of the former prison, the largest collection in the world of authentic writings and drawings signed by serial killers, some of which were created moments before their execution, will also be exhibited to the public for the first time. Great space will be reserved for international murderers such as Issei Sagawa, the Japanese cannibal killer, Anatoly Moskvin and his human dolls, the autographed letters of Aileen Wuornos ‘the Highway Hooker’ and the infamous Ted Bundy.

The exhibition will also be enriched by numerous multimedia contents: some scenes of criminal events, such as on a Csi set, will be ‘visited’ virtually via special viewers for immersive reality and touch-screens that will allow you to consult facts and verify your knowledge of serial murders.
