Ron Harper, 'Planet of the Apes' actor, dies at 91

The actor Ron Harper He died at the age of 91 at his home in West Hills (Los Angeles) due to natural causes, as confirmed by his daughter Nicole Longeuay to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.

Harper is known for his role in the series ‘Planet of the Apes’ (1974), as astronaut Alan Virdon, and in the program ‘The lost land’ (1974-1977).

He also acted on Broadway, where he became an understudy for Paul Newman in ‘Sweet bird of youth’ (1959). He also played Detective Bert Kling on the police show ’87th Precinct’ (1961-62), which was based on the novels of Ed McBain. He later played Jeff Conway, Connie Stevens’ husband, in the comedy ‘Wendy and Me’ (1964-65), which also starred George Burns.
