At the 61st edition of Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) you can already feel the air of Frankfurt. The participation of‘Italy as Guest of Honor at the Frankfurter Buchmesse next October was among the themes at the center of these first days of the program of the fair dedicated to those who work in the field of publishing and content for children and teenagers. Two panels – organized by the Italian Publishers Association (Aie) – aimed at foreign operators and a moment of networking marked the presence of Italia Guest of Honor 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair in the pavilions of BolognaFiere. Also present in the Emilian capital – according to a note – was the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Government, Mauro Mazza which coordinates the activities related to the October participation with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

There is great interest in Germany for the return of Italy as Guest of Honour: in Bologna the Commissioner met a delegation of German journalists specialized in publishing with whom he focused on the importance of “lbook for children as a first form of company that does not prepare one for solitude but for being together with others“. The 76th edition of the Buchmesse represents a historic opportunity to promote the excellence of Italian publishing and the publishing industry in the world. As demonstrated by the data recently presented in a re-elaboration by the research office of the Italian Publishers Association ( Aie), our country arrives at this event being able to count on an extraordinary state of form of national publishing for children and teenagers thanks to the significant strengthening of the sale of rights abroad recorded in recent decades.

Among the pavilions of BolognaFiere the poster “Roots in the future” also made its graphic debut created by maestro Lorenzo Mattotti in view of Italy’s participation in the Buchmesse. An emblematic testimony to the central role that illustration – of which Bcbfluogo is the main player at an international level – will play in the Italian program at the next Frankfurt Book Fair.
