Egyptian artist Yasser Galal criticized the statements of Mu’tazila actress Mayar El-Beblawi against him, in which she said that he ignored her request to give her one of the roles in the series “Al-Fatwa” that he presented in 2020, even though they struggled together in their artistic beginnings.
Yasser Jalal explained in radio statements that he worked with Mayar El-Beblawi once in 1992 and did not see her after that, noting that their first contact was while filming the series “Al-Fatwa,” where she obtained his phone number and his word to ask him to give her one of the roles.
He added: “She wanted to act wearing the hijab, and the female roles were for Naglaa Badr and Mai Omar. I also only care about what concerns me, that is, a respectable star cannot interfere in the director’s choices of actors.”
Yasser Jalal continued: “Mayar Al-Beblawi has been retired for a long time and you may not know that, but the decision to choose the actors was made by director Hussein Al-Manbawi, and I also fear that I will be misunderstood when I nominate one of my colleagues to participate in a work.”
He stressed that he does not nominate any actresses to work with him so that he is not misunderstood and no one wonders what links him to them, stressing that choosing actors is the director’s job.
Yasser Jalal touched on what Mayar El-Beblawi said about him avoiding answering her second call, and claimed that whoever answered her said he was his business manager or personal assistant.
He pointed out that if she had contacted him for the second time, as she claimed, he could have responded and informed her that there was no opportunity to participate in the “Al-Fatwa” series, wondering: “She may have been confused about the matter, and I do not want to say that the situation she narrated was purely from her imagination.”
Yasser Jalal expressed his annoyance at Mayar El-Beblawi’s statements, saying: “What she said is not true, and I did not expect that from her because I did not cause her any harm, and she should not have appeared in that way. She and her hijab have respect and it is necessary to respect them.”
It is noteworthy that the series “Al-Fatwa” stars Yasser Galal, Mai Omar, Ahmed Salah Hosni, Naglaa Badr, Ahmed Khalil, Riyad Al-Khouly, written by Hani Sarhan and directed by Hussein Al-Manbawi.
