Egyptian artist Hossam Habib revealed the details of his disagreements with his ex-wife, Sherine Abdel Wahab, and how he still loves her despite everything that happened between them, and despite her “offensive” statements to him in public, stressing that he loves her more than himself and his dignity as well, as he put it.
In a television interview, Hossam stressed his self-respect, and that he does not care about people’s evaluations of his actions. Not everyone will agree for him or against him. Rather, judgments differ from one person to another. He added: “But I used to say to Sherine, ‘I love you more than the anger that existed between us.’ Even if they gave me a choice between my dignity.” Between Sherine, I will choose Sherine.
When asked if he wanted to return to Sherine, Hossam Habib said that he did not leave in the first place to return, as they are always in each other’s lives, whatever the name of the relationship between them is now.
He explained that he was psychologically connected to Sherine and did not consider her only a wife, saying: “We were friends living together, and I did not feel that she was only my wife… but rather my mother, my friend, and everything… We are almost the same age as each other, and I am only one year older than her, and she is an independent and simple person.” “And she is happy with just the simplest things.”
Hossam Habib revealed the secret of the failure of their marriage, saying: “The only mistake we had in this relationship was that it was open to people… and I do not blame myself, nor do I blame Sherine. A woman cannot be blamed for her anger and for what she said in public… because a woman’s anger has He will be fiercer than a man.”
He concluded his speech by saying: “The biggest mistake in my association with Sherine was that I did not have any requests… and I entrusted my conduct and reputation to God, because if I spoke about what happened, I would attack her.”
