Spanish publishers and writers meet at the Bogotá Book Fair under the motto 'Read Nature'

He sector of Spanish publishers and writers will be present at the 36th edition of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo) 2024, where for 16 days, from April 17 to May 2, thirteen publishers in Spain will have their own stand under the motto ‘Read Nature’.

Thus, the event organized by the Colombian Chamber of Books and Corferias will have the participation of 25 countries, an edition in which Brazil is the ‘Guest Country of Honor’, which will pass the baton to Spainwhich will be in 2025.

Precisely, the Spanish ‘stand’ will be led by the Federation of Editors’ Guilds of Spain (FGEE), in which, in addition to thirteen publishers, the writers Paco Calvo, Pablo d’Ors, the biologist José Luis Fernández, Anna Llenas will participate. , the illustrator Antonio Lorente, the professor Laura Malinverni, Mado Martínez, Rosa Montero, Sonsoles Ónega, Carmen Pinilla, Francisco Rengifo, Eva Rey, Francisca Serrano, Fernando Trujillo, Cristina Valero and Irene Vallejo.

Meanwhile, in parallel to participation in this fair, Spanish publishers will participate, from April 10 to 20, in a Direct Commercial Mission that will take place in the cities of Lima, Quito and Bogotá, and which aims to support the internationalization of the publishing sector making known the offer and news of Spanish publishers to foreign buyers and prescribers.

In this sense, Ibero-America is the main area of ​​Spain’s publishing exportswhich in 2022 exported goods and services, mainly books, worth 183.35 million euros, 1.31 percent more than in 2021.

Among the countries that receive the most exports from this market are Mexico and Argentina with 72.40 million euros and 39.24 million euros, respectively. While Colombia accounts for 4.79 percent (4.79%) of total sales in Latin America, a total of 8.80 million euros.

In addition, the book subjects most exported to this country were Religion (24.86%), children’s and youth (15.03%) and scientific-technical (12.98%).
