'Rome, mother of art', the Bvlgari maison celebrates the pictorial 20th century and the city's Christmas

From the ‘futurists’ Balla and Depero to Dorazio and Perilli, exponents of the abstractionist movement, up to Tano Festa, ‘symbol’ of the Piazza del Popolo School alongside works by the major artists of the 20th century. They are some of the ‘protagonists’ of the ‘Roma Madre dell’Arte’ exhibition opened in the capital in the halls of the Bvlgari boutique in via Condotti, created in collaboration with the Futurism&Co art gallery. An exhibition-event (it can be visited until 26 April) created on the occasion of the Christmas celebrations in Rome (21 April) to celebrate the capital as the cradle of the arts.

“Bvlgari and Giacomo Balla have a particular bond with the eternal city – we read in a note from the historic brand – The three millennia of art and civilization of the eternal city have been a constant source of inspiration for the maison for the creation of extraordinary jewels. The artist moved there in 1895, just a year after the opening of the Bvlgari boutique in via Condotti 28, by the founder Sotirio. The painter was inspired by both the landscape beauty and the avant-garde that could be felt in the city in the early days years of the 20th century”.

“Bvlgari and Balla can be considered two true pioneers – adds the note – the Roman jeweler revolutionized jewelery with bold color combinations and the painter opened the way towards a modern experimental methodology of colour”. In the exhibition itinerary inside the boutique the public will be captivated by the beauty of his works ‘Lines of speed + sky and noise’, real impulses aimed at progress and innovation typical of the Roman context of the time.

Fortunato Depero’s ‘Decomposition + volumes of dance’ is on display, a work that is the emblem of a revolutionary and innovative aspect typical of the early 1900s. An interpreter of the modern concept of design and a great user of bold colors, Depero was a multifaceted artist and a profound experimenter, whose art crossed and influenced a vast range of disciplines. Bvlgari is also considered a pioneer in the world of jewelery for the use of cuts and colors of stones, over the years it has introduced new materials and new designs, looking to the future but at the same time celebrating tradition and always having the city of Rome as its muse.

Finally Tano Festa, an artist strongly linked to the capital, who he knows and exalts in a profound and transversal way. From this visceral intimacy are born his most beautiful and iconic works such as ‘Landscape with handle’ which is an example of it. Particularly attracted by the mystery and multiplicity behind the pure reality of objects, he paints with strong colors and combines the painting with a metal handle.
