'Hispanoamérica, song of life and hope', by López-Linares, reaches 100 cinemas and plans to jump to theaters in America

The film ‘Hispanoamérica, song of life and hope’ by director José Luis López-Linares has been shown in nearly 100 cinemas and has gathered more than 20,000 spectators in its first week, in addition to considering making the leap to theaters in America , according to what the producer has told Europa Press.

This documentary film offers “a renewed vision” of how Spanish America was born and developed. It has been filmed in Ecuador, Spain, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico and the United States and more than 50 historians have participated, most of them Americans since the project began in 2022.

Among the figures obtained in this first week of exhibition in cinemas, with only the first weekend (three days) it has been the most viewed documentary film of the year in Spain, reaching the number position among the ten most viewed films – it is also the first film in proportion of spectators per cinema.

Likewise, the production company has explained that they have activated the ‘Reserve your room’ service, due to the numerous “group requests” that have arrived for tickets. In addition, screenings are being held throughout Spain with subsequent discussions and, on several occasions, the screenings “end with applause.”

“The documentary has had an extraordinary reception and I am very grateful to the public. We expected a good response from the public because we knew there was great expectation, but this first week has exceeded our expectations,” explained López Linares, who anticipates that it will probably reach cinemas in America due to “high demand.”

Last Friday, King Felipe VI attended the premiere of the film at the Paz cinema in Madrid. The financing of this production has been possible thanks to the contributions of more than 4,000 patrons with more than 220,000 euros raised with individual contributions from 15, 50 and 100 euros (the majority), up to 10,000 euros.

The film hopes to reach, or surpass, the director’s previous production with ‘Spain, the first globalization’, which was the most watched documentary in 2021 with more than 70,000 viewers in movie theaters and more than 1,000,000 on television.
