“Our presence promotes dialogue with the universal language of art”

The participation of the Sultanate of Oman in the Venice International Art Biennale “reflects the vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040” in the field of culture. She reiterated it the General Secretariat of the Omani Council of Ministers Kamil bin Fahd Al Saidinaugurating the Sultanate Pavilion, which highlights “the efforts of the Ministry of Culture to enrich the global scene, as well as strengthen international cooperation and understanding through exchanging three different cultures”.

He echoes it the undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, general commissioner of the Sultanate Pavilionunderlining “the great importance in the field of intercultural dialogue and the diversity of human interaction” of the presence of the Sultanate at the international art exhibition, since “it is a platform that celebrates international artistic expressions”.

“Furthermore – he continued – the exhibition will provide a unique opportunity to promote the rich Omani cultural heritage and its artistic creations on the international scene, contributing to the promotion of understanding and appreciation between cultures, dialogue between different communities emphasizing the ‘human interconnection through the universal language of art, as well as strengthening bonds of cooperation and mutual respect between countries, leading to the enrichment of the global cultural scene.’

For his part, the ambassador of Oman to the Italian Republic Sayyid Nizar bin Al Janaldi Al Saidalso present in Venice, explained that the Sultanate’s participation in the International Art Exhibition “is an opportunity to showcase its rich cultural heritage and strengthen cultural exchange between the peoples of the world”, since the pavilion ” reflects the artistic spirit and cultural diversity of Oman and highlights extraordinary creativity and wonderful artistic talent.”

It is Oman’s second participation in the Venice Biennale, scheduled from 20 April to 24 November 2024. In keeping with this year’s theme of the Art Biennale, Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere. Artists from different backgrounds have come together to highlight the essence of Oman’s multicultural heritage.

The exhibition at Palazzo Navagero in Venice, entitled Malaz (sanctuary, in Italian) curated by the artist and gallery owner Alia Al Farsi, presents several works of art by contemporary Omani artists, including Ali Al Jabri, Essa Al Mufarji, Sarah Al Olaqi and Adham Al Farsi.
