Aiten Amer: My role in “One Wife Is Not Enough” did not offend Egyptian women

Actress Aiten Amer denied any abuse of Egyptian women in the series “One Wife is Not Enough,” which brought together a number of stars from the Arab world, and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information stopped showing it.

Aiten Amer explained in a live broadcast on the TikTok platform that criticism of the boldness of the character “Camelia” that she embodied in the series is unjustified, compared to what other actresses presented in Egyptian dramatic works that included a higher level of boldness.

She said: “I danced in a comedy scene, while a fellow actress wore bold clothes and performed a similar scene in another series, but I will not mention the names of my colleagues out of respect for professional ethics.”

Aiten Amer pointed out that some Egyptian series directly offend women, but their makers were not subjected to the same amount of criticism that she faced due to her appearing as a bold character in a non-Egyptian series, and the idea of polygamy was presented in a number of series, such as “The Family of Hajj Metwally.” And the works of Mustafa Shaaban.

She confirmed that the viewers realized the reason for “Camelia’s” boldness because she had the motive of taking revenge on Rashid, which led to her cooperation with his first wife to hand him over to justice due to his involvement in corruption cases.

It is noteworthy that the series “One Wife is Not Enough” caused the anger of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, which issued a decision to stop showing its episodes and prevent its makers from working inside Kuwait.
