The National Archives and the National Library concluded the Fourth International Translation Conference, which was held over two days under the slogan “Translation in New Contexts between Traditional Theories and Artificial Intelligence Developments.”
Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, indicated in his speech during the conclusion of the 4th edition of the conference that the National Archives and Library, and in line with the directions of our wise leadership towards further progress, aim to keep pace with the development that the world is witnessing thanks to artificial intelligence, especially since the National Archives and Library Artificial intelligence is given great attention at this stage, because it enters the translation portal as a pioneering technology and is the pinnacle of innovation in this field.
Al Ali expressed his hope that the National Archives and Library, through artificial intelligence techniques, would be able to enhance the agenda of its translation output to be a gateway to transfer and exchange knowledge. He called on the participants to pay attention to this technical aspect, stressing that it will not be achieved unless the artificial intelligence portals are supplemented with the indicative terms and vocabulary that constitute memory. An implicit, cumulative approach that will enhance the use of intelligence in translation processes locally, Arably, and internationally, which allows the National Archives and Library to be one of the developers in this vital cognitive and cultural field.
In his closing speech, the Director General praised the achievements of the International Translation Conference in its fourth edition, and thanked all the participants who contributed to the success of this scientific event, which is an incentive to continue the tireless efforts aimed at stimulating scientific research in the field of translation and publishing at all levels, and finding solutions that address the challenges. Which may loom on the horizon in various fields of translation.
He stressed that this is necessary because translation is the highest among human activities that aim to build bridges of civilizational dialogue and spread the culture of tolerance between peoples and nations, and for the National Archives and Library to play their role in the Emirates, which very deservedly leads the cultural movement in the Middle East thanks to the ongoing pioneering initiatives in all scientific fields. Academic and cultural, including supporting the translation and publishing movement around the world.
The Archives and the National Library have confirmed continuing efforts to publish books containing the research of the Fourth International Translation Conference in Arabic and English, due to their importance in enriching local, Arab and international libraries, and in cultural and academic research circles.
He pointed out that the publications of the fourth edition of the conference will include 50 academic and scientific research and studies, 40 of which were presented in the conference sessions, and ten research papers were selected that the archive and the National Library received from their owners who did not participate in the conference.
The International Translation Conference, which the National Archives and the National Library continue to organize annually, is an important shed light on translation efforts that contribute to building, advancing, and enriching knowledge societies. It comes within the initiatives offered by the Archives and the National Library within its project (Translations), which aims to expand the horizons of translation locally and globally by providing Cultural movement with more translations from different languages.
