Content Creators and Industries claim the importance of intellectual property for culture

The representatives of the main industries of the cultural and entertainment sector in Spain, grouped in The Coalition of Content Creators and Industries, have claimed – on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day – its importance for society, culture, the economy and employment.

Precisely, The Coalition has participated in the round table ‘The importance of culture and intellectual property rights in achieving’ organized by the Ministry of Culture this Friday, where they have provided data such as that the publishing sector contributes up to 3.4 percent to the Spanish GDP, while maintaining 723,300 jobs.

The colloquium was presented by the general director of Cultural Rights, Jazmín Beirak; moderated by the deputy director general of Intellectual Property, Lara Chaguaceda; and with the participation of the executive director of the Federation of Editors’ Guilds of Spain (FGEE), Antonio María Ávila, and the coordinator of the Welfare Area of the Welfare and Cultural Fund for Performing Artists (AIE), Tatiana Romero, among others.

Thus, Ávila has insisted on the idea that Education is a “fundamental factor” in human development and economic and social progress that “can only be operated” from educational or pedagogical criticism.

“Artificial Intelligence, like digitalization in its day, cannot be the decision-making criteria in educational matters, but rather complementary instruments. Furthermore, it is played primarily with children and adolescents whose data must be protected and not commercialized.“, he defended.

For his part, Romero added that this commitment “enriches” support for musical artists, who must be “protected” so that music can “enrich” people’s lives.
