Anita Lerche is a former Danish Melody Grand Prix participant, but has for the past many years found her way as a musician in India.

Lerche has embraced traditional Indian song, dance and culture, and has had great success with his Indian album releases.

Now, however, she has achieved what she herself calls ‘spiritual connection’ to the Asian country, and she therefore wants to spread the knowledge of the Sikh faith, writes Times of India.

Due to the spiritual connection, Anita Lerche has therefore released a song with the traditional rhythmic chant of sacred words. The chant is used for meditation and religious prayer.

Will enlighten people of all faiths
The new song is called ‘Simran’, which refers to the Sikhist religious practice of meditating in the name of God.

Anita Lerche tells the media Punjab News Express that she hopes the song will enlighten people.

– I felt peaceful when I recorded this amazing spiritual Sikh chant. I hope that the transcendent magic of this divinely inspired project will enlighten people from all faiths, cultures and communities who enjoy devotional music, says Anita Lerche.

With the new song, the Danish singer illustrates that she is moving more towards the religious and spiritual aspect of her music.

Anita Lerche’s music career did not start with Indian songs, but in the Danish church choir more than thirty years ago.

But Christianity has now been replaced by Sikhism.

Lerche had her first breakthrough in India with the album ‘Heer from Denmark’, which she released in 2006. She was also the first non-Asian Western woman to release an album in the Indian language Punjabi.
