The Soroka Hospital restoration plan has been approved

The District Commission for Design and Construction of the Southern District approved a new development plan for the Soroka hospital, which provides for the construction of three towers up to 30 floors each and a new secure hospital building, which will be called “Binyan Ha-Tkuma” (“Renaissance Building”).

Let us remind you: in mid-June 2025, the hospital received a direct hit from an Iranian missile. The building was evacuated in advance, but the material damage was enormous: the building itself was seriously damaged, as well as hospitalization departments, operating rooms, laboratories, specialized departments and administrative premises.

An entire floor of scientific laboratories burned to the ground, eight of the nineteen operating rooms were disabled. Demolition of the damaged building began in March 2026.

The total development volume will be about 230 thousand square meters. m. The plan provides for 80 hotel rooms and 300 units of specialized housing for hospital medical staff, 140 thousand square meters. m of business space and 6500 sq. m of retail space.

The development area is 45 dunams along Rager Boulevard from Ben Gurion Street in the north to Wingate Street in the south. In total, the plan includes five buildings: three towers, “Binyan Ha-Tkuma” and an eight-story building.
