Two Australian functional foods recalled due to risk of glass fragments

The two recalled products include Nature’s Own Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin, 320 tablets, lot number 1662937, expiration date April 2028; and Nature’s Own Magnesium Glycinate 1150 mg, 300 tablets, batch number 1665576, expiration date April 2028.

The move was made by the Ministry of Health after Australia urgently recalled the above two Nature’s Own functional food products on June 4. The Australian Medicines Agency (TGA) said the risk of glass fragments may appear in the product bottle, not in the pill. However, users of products from affected batches may be at risk if exposed to debris.

The above two products are distributed and widely sold in Australia by Sanofi Consumer Healthcare, part of the Sanofi Group, from May 7, 2026. This is a functional food that protects health, supplementing glucosamine to support bones and joints.

It is unclear why glass fragments appeared in product bottles in Australia.

After looking up management data, the Food Safety Department said that it has not yet issued a certificate of registration of health protection food product declaration for the two above mentioned products in Vietnam. However, to protect consumers’ health, the Department requires the local health sector to review the registration to announce or self-announce relevant products; Work with businesses that announce products to stop circulation, notify the distribution system and implement recalls as recommended by the manufacturer.

Units compile statistics on the number of products imported, sold, and in stock and propose measures to handle affected shipments. The Ministry of Health advises people not to use recalled product batches.

The above products may be available in the Vietnamese market as “hand-carried” or sold in the e-commerce market.
