Zol We-Bagadol announced the return to operation of branches in Jerusalem

The retail chain Zol ve-Bagadol announced the reopening of two branches in Jerusalem that were closed at the request of the Ministry of Health after the drugs clonazepam and lorazepam were found in three jars of Prinok children’s fruit puree purchased from these branches and in two jars of such puree remaining on store shelves.

The management of the retail chain indicated that the court and the Ministry of Health allowed the branches to return to work after it was established that there was no fault or liability on the part of the chain.

Let us remind you that we are talking about two branches of the Zol ve-Bagadol network at 113 and 214 Jaffa Street in Jerusalem. The Zol ve-Bagadol chain argues that closing branches is a “disproportionate measure,” since to protect the population it would be enough to remove suspicious products from sale or close only baby food departments.

The Ministry of Health, police and other departments are conducting a thorough investigation into the poisoning of five children with fruit puree with sedatives. During the investigation, it was established that drugs were added to jars of Prinok puree, apparently deliberately, and this did not happen at the production stage.

The laboratories of the Ministry of Health tested hundreds of jars of puree, and sedatives were found in five samples – three provided by the parents of the affected babies and two jars taken from store shelves. All five jars show signs of tampering prior to purchase.

At the same time, an additional check of the entire supply chain was carried out, including import volumes, storage conditions, warehouses, and clarifications from the manufacturer in the Czech Republic were received. Based on the results of the inspection, no signs of problems have been identified at the moment at the stages of production, import or storage of products at the importer.

The Ministry of Health urged citizens to purchase food products only in original and undamaged packaging, check the tightness of the product before use and seek medical advice if there are any suspicions of health problems after consuming the product.
