Chickenpox outbreak reported in Gaza – more than 9,300 cases in two weeks

In the Gaza Strip, more than 9,300 cases of chickenpox were reported in two weeks, mostly among children in displaced persons camps. Such data, as Ynet writes, are provided by medical structures operating in Gaza and the World Health Organization.

Crowding and the inability to isolate sick people contribute to the spread of infection.

Let us note that Gaza’s “ministry of health” formally ceased to exist several weeks ago: Hamas announced on July 6 the dissolution of its government and its readiness to transfer control to a committee of technocrats, but the actual transfer of powers has not yet taken place.
