Eli Lilly begins selling new diet pills from the GLP-1 family in Israel

Israel will be the fourth country in the world where Lilly will begin selling the pill. This schedule allows the company to apply to include the drug in the basket of medical services for 2027.

The drug Foundayo will appear in pharmacies from September 15, only with a doctor’s prescription, and will be sold at prices ranging from 691 shekels for the minimum dosage to 1,146 shekels for the maximum. The amount of subsidies from health insurance funds is currently unknown.

Like weight loss injections, the pill is intended for patients who are dangerously obese or overweight and have at least one weight-related disease.

The Foundayo tablet at its highest dose showed a 12.4% weight loss – less than injectable weight loss drugs and less than the yet-to-be-marketed Novo Nordisk tablet, which showed results of 14-16.6% in clinical trials. Lilly’s drug also demonstrated a significant reduction in the risk of death from heart disease in patients with diabetes.

The tablet should be taken once a day without restrictions on the time of administration and without reference to meals or drinks; There is also no need to store it in the refrigerator.
