On the morning of Sunday, April 3, the Israeli Ministry of Health published new data on the coronavirus epidemic. Comparison with data for April 2 is not possible, as the report was not published on Saturday morning. Compare with data from a week ago.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,938,759 cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the country (about 86 thousand per week). Over the past day, about 7 thousand new cases have been detected.
The number of infected people is taken into account by PCR tests and tests at checkpoints (a positive home test result is not included in the statistics if it is not confirmed at the checkpoint).
Over the past day, 32209 tests have been carried out. Coronavirus was detected in 22.78% of cases.
At the moment, 58749 people are infected (-5433 in a week).
10,518 COVID-19 cases have died (+18 in a week).
789 patients are in hospitals, others are recovering in specially equipped hotels or at home.
The condition of 277 patients (+158 per week) is assessed by doctors as severe, 102 are connected to ventilators or ECMO.
The infectiousness index (an index of the reproduction of the virus, showing how many people, on average, one infected person transmits it) – 0.98.
According to a report by the Israeli Ministry of Health, 32% of those infected with coronavirus in the country are in the 0-19 age group. And 14% are over 60 years old. At the same time, 85% of seriously ill patients are over 60 years old.
Most people over 60 years of age are fully vaccinated, and the percentage of seriously ill among them is much lower than among the unvaccinated. Among citizens in the age group 60+, there are 75/100 thousand seriously ill and unvaccinated, 28/100 thousand seriously ill and vaccinated for a long time (more than six months), and 10/100 thousand seriously ill and fully vaccinated. At the same time, against the background of high infection rates in absolute numbers, the number of seriously ill patients among fully vaccinated elderly people is growing: at the moment, among seriously ill patients in the 60+ category, 65 are unvaccinated, vaccinated long ago (more than six months) – 23, fully vaccinated – 141. In the age categories under 60 years among seriously ill unvaccinated absolute majority.
Vaccination
According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, as of April 3, 6,703,331 people (72% of the country’s population) received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and 6,129,471 people (65% of the country’s population) received the second dose. 4,477,600 people were vaccinated with the third dose (48% of the country’s population). The fourth dose was received by 761,836 people (8% of the country’s population).
In recent months, the vaccination process in Israel has been very slow.
Fully vaccinated (that is, they received at least two vaccinations and less than six months have passed since the last one): in the age category 90+ – 84% of citizens, in the category 80-89 – 89%, 70-79 – 92%, 60-69 – 88% , 50-59 – 85%, 40-49 – 82%, 30-39 – 78%, 20-29 – 74%, 16-19 – 69%, 12-15 – 52%, 5-11 – 24%.

There is a program “Vaccination at home”, the purpose of which is to eliminate social injustice in relation to residents of the periphery and settlements with a low socio-economic status.
QUARANTINE RESTRICTIONS
A green certificate is only required for “high risk” events. For example, at celebrations or parties with a large number of participants.
The following populations are eligible for the Green Certificate:
– Persons vaccinated with two doses of the vaccine, when no more than four months have passed since the second dose;
– Persons who have been ill with coronavirus, if more than four months have not passed since the moment of recovery;
– Persons vaccinated with three or four doses of the vaccine, regardless of the date of vaccination.
A decision was made to abolish the “green standard”. However, it will still be necessary to do an antigen test before entering nursing homes.
Currently:
– Nursing homes, geriatric hospitals and hostels for the elderly will require a negative rapid test result to enter.
– It is recommended to be tested for coronavirus before meeting with the elderly.
– Institutions that will require a rapid test before entering will receive partial subsidies from the state.
– Unvaccinated employees of educational institutions, medical institutions and social services will still be required to be tested twice a week for coronavirus.
Middle school students are exempt from weekly coronavirus tests.
– Testing for coronavirus in elementary grades has been cancelled.
Entry and exit from Israel
Since March 1, Israel has fully opened to tourists – both vaccinated and not vaccinated against the coronavirus.
To enter Israel, tourists will be required to present a negative PCR test result for the coronavirus.
Israelis returning to the country from abroad are exempted from the obligation to present a negative PCR or antigen test result when boarding an aircraft.
The obligation to do a PCR test at Ben Gurion Airport immediately after landing remains for both tourists and Israelis.
Both tourists and Israelis must remain in quarantine for 24 hours upon arrival or until they test negative for coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health is also announcing the extension of the green certificate until May 31 for anyone who has received three or four doses of the coronavirus vaccine. For those who received their fourth or third dose less than six months ago, the certificate will be valid for six months from the date they received their last dose of vaccine.
