The 19-year-old boy suddenly became paralyzed

Phu-ThoYoung man, 19 years old, had pain in his legs but did not go to the doctor. Half a month later, his condition got worse, paralysis of both legs, loss of movement and feeling.

On April 3, Dr. Vi Truong Son, Head of the Department of Surgery, Phu Tho General Hospital, said the results of an MRI scan revealed an epidural tumor pressing on the patient’s spinal cord, causing paralysis.

The surgeon removed the tumor and decompressed the spinal cord, leaving no sequelae for the patient. The pathology result was a benign schwannoma.

Currently, the patient’s legs have recovered feeling and movement, using rehabilitation exercises combined with physical therapy to soon be able to walk normally again.

Spinal cord tumors are usually benign tumors, but when they grow large, they compress the spinal cord and nerves and cause weakness of the limbs. Doctors recommend that when you experience symptoms such as back pain, limb weakness, numbness in your limbs, you need to go to a medical facility for timely examination and treatment to avoid serious consequences.
