The Ministry of Health has issued a public advisory urging those planning to travel to Mexico, Thailand, Brazil and Argentina to get vaccinated against dengue fever in advance.

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of an infected female mosquito. Symptoms of this disease are fever, severe pain in bones and joints, nausea and vomiting, swollen lymph nodes, rash, and enlarged liver. In 1%-2% of cases, the disease occurs in a severe form, which is characterized by signs of hepatitis, encephalitis and myocarditis. Of particular danger is the hemorrhagic form of the disease, which is accompanied by severe bleeding.

There is an effective vaccine against the Dengue fever virus. Vaccination is carried out in three stages and protects against four types of virus.
