5 ways drinking coffee is not good for your health

Drinking coffee that is too hot affects tooth enamel, and adding too much sugar can promote chronic inflammation and blood pressure disorders.

Caffeine overdose

Coffee contains caffeine which stimulates the central nervous system with the ability to fight fatigue and increase energy levels. The beverage is also rich in antioxidants, which may affect insulin sensitivity, inflammation, and metabolism — all of which are linked to developing type 2 diabetes.

Drinking coffee in moderation can reduce the risk of memory loss and cognitive decline. The nutrients in coffee have the ability to change the fat storage process, support intestinal health, and are beneficial for weight management.

According to recommendations from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the safe daily amount of caffeine should not exceed 400 mg. A typical cup of coffee has about 70-100 mg of caffeine. A healthy adult should drink no more than 4-5 cups per day. Consuming 1,000 mg or more can easily cause stress and restlessness.

Not drinking enough water

Frequent urination is a common side effect due to caffeine’s ability to stimulate the bladder. The condition often occurs in older people, people with bedwetting or urinary incontinence. The body produces more urine due to drinking coffee which can lead to dehydration. Coffee drinkers need to drink about two liters of water per day. Dehydration is associated with a variety of adverse health effects such as fatigue, headaches, and impaired cognitive function.

Add more sugar

Adding sugar to coffee can lead to fat accumulation, which then develops into fatty liver disease, contributes to diabetes, and increases the risk of heart disease. Consuming too much added sugar also promotes chronic inflammation and blood pressure, affecting heart health.

Drink too hot

Drink before going to sleep

Coffee is very useful when a person needs to stay awake all night. Normally, if you drink a lot, you can easily toss and turn, reducing your total sleep time, leading to headaches, anxiety, and mood changes, especially in the elderly. Note the dosage and time of caffeine use, you should drink it 6 hours before going to bed at night. If you sleep at 10:00 p.m. every day, you should avoid drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks after 4:00 p.m.
